Flirteo (flirt) is an experimental video that through 7 different immersive chapters reflects on humans approach to controlled nature. The video has the aim to highlight some cliches derived from romantic images that still sustain contemporary narratives on love, self-care and the sense of property and colonization.
Flirt is also a performative project carried out during the Night of Museums at the Botanical Garden of Barcelona. It consists on a textual intervention through the itineraries of the botanical garden and a musical solo a'capella by an invited singer, Cèlia Prats.

Act I. Intro
Des Müllers Blumen by Franz Schubert as a welcoming solo a’ capella by the invited singer Cèlia Prats at Botanical Garden Barcelona. The singer sang together with the fauna from the botanical garden amplified through the microphone.
Act II.
Along the tour through the botanical garden, inscriptions and sentences were placed next to different species creating an infiltration with the official narrative. The texts alluded to botanical diaries from XIX century, literature, anthropologic essays, romantic poetry and theatre. The common denominator was the use of language to adress concepts such as romanticism, the idealization of nature and to question through some parody flowers as the old archetype of feminity.
Act III.
The last phase of the project during the night of museums at the Botanical Garden of Barcelona was the projection of the video “Flirteo (Flirt)” arranging a casual outdoor cinema.

El proyecto Flirteo surge de una intervención específica en el Jardí Botànic de Barcelona para la Nit dels Museus. Éste se articula en tres fases: una bienvenida musical de la voz de Cèlia Prats, mezzosoprano que canta a capella el lied Des Müllers Blumen de Franz Schubert en el estanque de la entrada del Jardín –donde acompaña el coro formado por la fauna acuática–; una serie de cartelas luminosas colocadas a lo largo del recorrido y un visionado audiovisual del vídeo "Flirteo"(13'48'') en el exterior del jardín.
Partiendo del término “flirtear” y su origen etimológico –del francés ceullir fleurs ensemble, es decir, coger flores juntos– la idea por el mantener una relación amorosa superficial, sin que suponga compromiso alguno nace del acto de coger flores en compañía. Surgido en Francia en un período de transición entre los siglos XV-XVII, el término señala un eufemismo: hacerle la corte a alguna dama.
Una relectura contemporánea en clave de género señalaría la paradoja de que la relación con el mundo floral está forjada por un imaginario romántico dominante.
El proyecto parte del interés por desmontar asociaciones estereotipadas sobre las flores, sustentadas todavía en viejas narrativas.
